It may not be warm and there may not be any signs of spring, but Audrey knows it’s coming. He’s been spending a lot more time on the giraffe.
Most cockatiels are no longer interested in sex after age 10 or so, but Audrey is just as virile as ever. I’m glad because it’s good exercise. Conner looks like a total pervert in the picture below, but I’m not sure he understands what’s going on. I think that he might be excited merely because there is so much activity.
Audrey sings when he’s on his giraffe, which is also very exciting for Conner. He understands that the giraffe is special, though, because he will never climb higher than he is in this picture. Even if you offer Conner the top of the giraffe, he will refuse to step off your finger.
Audrey sometimes feels that Conner is intruding too much. If I take Conner out of the room Audrey will run up to the giraffe.

This is so funny! It’s very similar to what my 2 male cockatiels do too. Chipper, being senior, humps his beloved “Going to Bed” book. Charlie doesn’t hump, nor does he approve of this behavior and often complains to Chipper, but he also doesn’t dare covet Chipper’s book!
Nice! I sometimes wonder if Conner would like his own giraffe. I’m on the lookout for one! It makes Audrey terribly happy to have one, so maybe Conner could benefit too.
Audrey, you keep it up…er, do whatever makes you happy. Squeaky (20 in Oct), Speckles (18 in Oct), Honey (16 in July), and Sydney Michael (13) all take care of their ‘needs’ even at their ‘age.’
Happy spring, Audrey!!
“I’m glad because it’s good exercise.”
Ha ha ha ha ha!
So, how did Audrey and his giraffe meet? Was it love at first sight?
Mom bought me the giraffe as a toy (I was only eight) and somehow we thought to stick it on Audrey’s cage. I wish I could remember how quickly he adapted to the giraffe
but alas. I do remember my grandmother speaking to Audrey while he was using the giraffe and she didn’t understand what he was doing, which I thought was quite hilarious.
Guilty of contributing to the delinquency….
