Audrey understands acoustics.  He knows that if he yells from on top of his cage, he’s easy to ignore.  But when Audrey is on the floor and he yells from the top of the stairs, his screech carries.

Audrey will brook no dissent from the humans.

I appreciate Audrey’s skill.  I get frustrated with Conner’s endless whining about how I should always be in the same room with him.  He will send out alert calls when Jon gets off the bed!  But Audrey typically reserves his yells for legitimate complaints, even if those complaints are occasionally the lack of head scratches.

And unlike Trevor, who gets caught up in the excitement of cockatiel flapping and then becomes overwhelmed when he ends up on the floor, Audrey always knows what he’s doing.  If he’s on the floor, Audrey chose to be there.

Audrey, your easy going confidence and crafty genius in acoustics is awesome! Sorry that Conner is a whiner and Trevor is still a spazzy baby; you must be shaking you’re head a lot. Maybe one day they will learn by your dignified example :-) .

Seriously! They’re so tiring to Audrey that sometimes he asks us to put him back inside his cage for some peace.

That’s one of the things I love about older birds. They have gathered so much wisdom over the years and act with intent. It’s just amazing to watch. I know I’ve said this before, but the 30+ year old B&G macaws at the rescue where I volunteer are just so wise and knowing. It’s rather humbling. So interesting that you’re seeing something similar in your flock!!!

My favorite reaction is when Audrey and Conner are annoyed by Trevor’s antics. If they could speak, they would be saying “Argh!!! These kids!” Conner is only three years old but he thinks he’s an adult around the baby. Especially when Trevor used to beg.
