Poor Conner. Usually he looks like this picture:
But right now he’s going through a rough molt so he has spots where you can see a little skin. It’s not as bad as this guy, but the remaining feathers also look pretty weathered.
It’s hard to fully appreciate in these pictures because Conner is so photogenic but you can see the patches especially below his eye. The other birds are molting but it’s not as apparent. I only know that they’re molting because there are so many feathers on the floor that it looks like a cockatiel massacre.
Be extra nice to your birds when they’re molting because it’s very uncomfortable to have all those new feathers coming in at once. If it’s possible, give them showers. Everyone had a shower this morning. Even Conner wanted to get wet so you know he was suffering.

Neato! So he showers? Must be fun!
It’s very fun. The cockatiels get puffy and spread their wings to let the droplets get in between the feathers. Trevor goes crazy and starts flapping around, moving his wings in every direction! I love having birds.
Conner is indeed photogenic – even molting. Cookie is molting right now too and constant lowers her head for cracking – it’s amazing how barb like pinfeathers are.
Aw, poor Cookie! It’s a rough molt for these guys. Audrey is more cranky than usual if you can believe it.
