Baby Robins

This weekend we took a mini vacation and stayed overnight at Homestead Resort in Heber, UT.  Homestead was very nice, although it was nuts because a lot of families stay there and they were hosting this insane race.  But the property has a lot of trees and houses tons of babies.  The babies I want to talk about today are baby robins.  I heard the desperate pleas of baby birds in a tree.  And then I saw this:

I scoured the tree for a nest and then I found the babies, and they were so hungry!

It’s so interesting.  I think I’ve only seen very small robins that don’t have the distinctive stripes yet.  I can easily see these little guys morphing into the juvenile attire that I posted a few years ago.  By the way, have you ever seen the show Futurama?  My husband loves this show.  I…don’t really get it.  But when I saw the robin with worms I realized he looks just like Zoidberg.

Fry: Don’t worry. The Lovemeister will take you under his wing.
Dr. Zoidberg: What? Now there’s a bird involved?

I made an animated gif of the robin on Google+ if you want to check it out.  I think it’s pretty cool.

I’ve seen futurama on flipping through channels, but never gotten sucked in, so I don’t know the character. But, haha, that likeness is uncanny! Baby birds are so cute. =)

I thought about driving back down to Heber today so I could see the babies again, I love them so much.

I’m not familiar with Dr. Zoidberg, however, I agree the likeness is indisputable lol!

As always, great pictures. I was lucky enough to see one robin last weekend while on the mountain, which was a treat for me. Double the treat with these photos!

I’m so proud that I recognized the likeness. It’s a nerd badge of honor!

Futurama is an aquired taste I think. I’ve really, really tried. I even know the characters – that is definitely Zoidberg.
