I took a break from studying this weekend to go to Red Butte Garden.  I saw a super cute juvenile Western Scrub Jay.  Below I’ve put a picture of an adult on top and the juvenile on the bottom.  Here’s a front view.

Another front view to emphasize that the adult has those white stripes on his breast.  The juvenile’s are just starting to come in. The juvenile jay had just taken a bath so he’s a little wet.

Back.  This is probably the most dramatic difference because you can see how much gray the juvenile has on his back.

More crisp and beautiful pictures. The baby is rather amusing with those super gangly legs. I’ve never seen one sit still here, not to mention lounge with a nut. Usually it’s their screetch and a blur of blue as they streak past lol.

Glad you had a fun study break!

I rarely get a good shot of one in my backyard, but they seem super relaxed at Red Butte Gardens. Maybe the constant stream of people has them immune to humans.
