Pied-billed Grebes

It’s been years since I’ve written about Pied-billed Grebes.  I’m so sorry I waited so long, but I have amazing pictures to show you.  At Farmington Bay last week there were a group of grebes milling around looking cute as usual.  Their big eyes make them look so young.  Wikipedia says they don’t swim very well and they stay out of the water.  The Wikipedia author needs to come to Utah.

This guy wasn’t content with floating around.  He was hungry!

I’m not sure if it was the same grebe or another one, but this fish looked even more difficult to swallow.

These are freaking fantastic Liz! I find they are such shy birds – to get such amazing photos of one choking back an seeming unreasonably large fish is quite a feat!

Thanks! They are usually very shy, I really lucked out.
